Home Brew Guidance and Recipes

There is a lot of material online regarding brewing. For the beginner or someone looking to improve their brewing, it can be difficult to identify the best sources of information to use. On this page we aim to provide all levels of winemaker from the beginner to the competitive winemaker with a few hints and tips, some tried and tested recipes and some helpful links, including a few videos. In order to get started you will need some equipment and supplies, so have a look at our HOMEBREW SHOPS page.

BEER MAKING GUIDANCE
See the attached for information on brewing your own beer at home from using kits through to full mash.

WINE MAKING GUIDANCE
This is split into 3 sections:
  • An introductory Guide to Wine Making and how to get started
  • A succinct guide to Making your own Wine structured by topic and including various do’s and don’ts. It is in the form of a Powerpoint presentation so should ideally be supplemented with more comprehensive sources.  The book ‘Award Winning Wines’ by Bill Smith is highly recommended.
  • A more advanced introduction to the NGWBJ wine styles, their characteristics, and how to make them. This is supported with sample recipes.

AN INTRODUCTION TO LIQUEURS
